Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), this individual will conduct research on the Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH): ML-based Flexible Flood Inundation Mapping and Intercomparison Framework project.
 

Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related field.

Lead the Development of Data Retrieval and Image Processing Tools: Develop software tools for data retrieval and image processing to integrate heterogeneous flood mapping data sources and enhance the accuracy of flood maps. Will collaborate with the team to design and implement software solutions that efficiently retrieve and process flood mapping data from various sources.

Apply Machine Learning Techniques for Flood Inundation Mapping Optimization: Apply machine learning techniques to optimize flood inundation mapping methodologies to identify optimal flood mapping tools tailored to specific geographic and hydraulic characteristics, enhancing mapping accuracy. Analyze flood mapping data, train machine learning models, evaluate model performance, and iteratively refine mapping methodologies based on results.
