The Ursinus College History Department seeks an adjunct instructor for the 2021-2022 academic year. The instructor will design and teach a survey course on the history of science in Fall 2021, and will design and teach a course on a topic of their choosing in the history of science and medicine in Spring 2022. We seek to hire a creative instructor with expertise in the history of science and medicine in Latin America, Africa, or Asia, who can use this opportunity to build and/or expand their teaching dossier.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a related field of study; ABD or PhD preferred. Strong organization and communication skills, familiarity with discussion-based and active learning pedagogies, and familiarity with Canvas (or a similar LMS) are desirable. Prior experience as an instructor of record in higher education is also desirable but not required. Each course will have a maximum of 25 students and will fulfill requirements for history majors/minors as well as requirements within the Ursinus Quest core curriculum. The Fall 2021 course on the history of science is currently scheduled to be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8:15 p.m.
