The Systems Engineering Doctorate Centre (SEDC) is located at Loughborough University, but is a consortium involving four other institutions, the University of Bath, Queens University Belfast, University of Leicester and the University of Strathclyde.
The Centre is recruiting highly motivated, qualified engineers for October 2007 entry on to the Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Systems Engineering. The EngD is a four-year postgraduate award intended for the UK's leading research engineers who want a managerial career in industry.

1. The Impact of Environmental Conditions on System Reliability in Military Aircraft and Proposed Solutions (with the University of Leicester)
2. Advanced Electrical Power Systems Coping with Increasing Power Demands in Military Aircraft (with the University of Strathclyde)
3. Stochastic Modelling of System Performance for Large-Scale Systems (and Systems-of-Systems) (with Loughborough University)
Entry Requirements
The EngD is open to highly motivated engineers who have a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline. A lower undergraduate qualification is acceptable if supplemented with an appropriate postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA/MSc) and/or substantial industrial experience. Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in English.
Fees and Stipends
Research Engineers are fully funded by EPSRC for four years and will receive an enhanced tax-free stipend of £18220 for 2007/08, plus a training allowance to attend conferences and workshops. International students are welcome to apply, but are not eligible for the EPSRC funding. Non-UK EU students who can demonstrate that they have been resident in the UK for three years are eligible for full funding. Those who have not been resident in the UK for three years will be eligible for fees only.
