About the Role:

_

• Carries out biochemical and biophysical studies to support scientific activities and project goals, generates data packages to support the advancement of candidate development

• Supports protein and peptide characterization, purification and conjugation workflows, as needed

• Specific methodologies may include capillary electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, differential scanning calorimetry, static or dynamic light scattering, high-pressure liquid chromatography, SDS-PAGE, isoelectric focusing, western blot, surface plasmon resonance, biolayer interferometry

• Evaluate new biochemical methodologies, initiate and support new platform processes, instrumentation and technologies for protein and peptide characterization under the supervision of senior scientists

• Generates and works with complex data sets, with a strong understanding of advanced data analysis and statistical tests

• Prepares detailed data reports and presents results to peers and colleagues

• Other duties as assigned

• BS/BA degree and 2 - 4+ years of relevant experience OR

• MS/MA degree and 1 - 3+ years of relevant experience OR

• PhD or equivalent and some relevant experience: may include postdoc experience, this position will require a PhD in a relevant discipline

• Recognizes fundamental anomalies in data points and identifies issues in experiments / processes

• Ability to think beyond the technical process and consider the impact decisions will have on the broader scientific goals

• Strong knowledge of scientific discipline, principles, methods and techniques

• Good knowledge and demonstrated ability working with a variety of laboratory equipment/tools

• Strong computer, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills

• Detail oriented with ability to manage diverse deadlines and operate in dynamic work environment

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional scientists

• Familiarity with basic techniques in protein and peptide characterization such as SDS-PAGE, isoelectric focusing, western blot, capillary electrophoresis, endotoxin quantification/removal, DSC, DLS, HPLC, SPR, BLI, etc

• Experience with typical purification processes for antigens, antibodies and therapeutic proteins and/or peptides

• Evaluates new biochemical methodologies, initiates and support new platform processes, instrumentation and technologies for antibody and peptide expression and characterization

• Experience assessing peptide structure, stability and behavior in solution, understanding of antibody protein structure and function

• Demonstrated ability to concisely explain experimental processes, interpret and communicate results, identify implications of results and recognize anomalous or inconsistent results
