The Newark City of Learning Collaborative (NCLC) was launched in January 2015 to ensure that all Newark residents have the opportunity, information, and access to go to college, afford college, complete college, and ultimately obtain good jobs. The Collaborative has a goal of increasing the proportion of Newark residents with a degree or credential beyond high school to 25% by the year 2025 and ultimately sustaining Newark’s college going culture well beyond 2025. Our innovative approach uses a combination of data, research, partnerships, and the sharing of helpful information to provide equitable opportunity and access to postsecondary options. We support students in finding a path to take, and complete, after high school.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Program Coordinator I. Reports to the Executive Director of the Newark City of Learning Collaborative (NCLC) of the Joseph C. Cornwall Center.
The Program Coordinator is instrumental in expanding Newark’s college-going culture and helping the city of Newark achieve its goal of 25% of residents attaining a post-secondary degree or credential by the year 2025.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Coordinates and manages special college readiness and other NCLC
  • projects, which includes the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships that support the network.
  • Provides support to unit management by assisting with the coordination and administration of programs, projects, and/or processes and with the planning, preparation, and control of communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents.
  • Arranges and coordinates logistics and assists with the content of events and meetings.
  • Assists with the development of processes, evaluates program effectiveness, and may manage program supplies.
  • Assists with the analysis of various administrative documents and program data, creates routine informational materials, and aids in promotional areas of marketing support.
  • Work is consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of NCLC.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach. Also requires a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
