Summary of Position
The University of New Hampshire invites applications for a non-tenure-track position as Lecturer in Security Studies who will teach within an established Homeland Security degree program. This position has an anticipated start date of August 2023.
UNH seeks a visionary faculty member for a full-time, benefited position who will teach a 3/3 load and help administer a rapidly growing homeland security undergraduate degree program that operates on both the urban UNH campus in Manchester and the main UNH campus in Durham. The successful candidate will be expected to teach on both campuses, across a variety of core courses in the HLS discipline and program, including the following courses: HLS 480 professional skills in homeland security; HLS 510 fundamentals of emergency management; HLS 580 environmental and human security; applied research methods and statistics; supervising internships (HLS 770). Other essential duties include general curriculum design and development, online teaching and online program development, committee participation, and duties designed to support the development of a broader portfolio of security or intelligence studies degree programs. This is a nine-month, academic year position with the possibility of summer teaching.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
A practitioner with an earned doctorate or master’s degree in a discipline closely related to Homeland or National Security, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, etc.; 3 to 5 years of related professional experience, and at least 2 years’ experience with undergraduate teaching in security, homeland security, or national security or discipline are required. Experience teaching in professional and/or graduate security studies programs including graduate course development; online undergraduate and or graduate course and program development as well as online teaching experience are strongly preferred. An established track record of security studies scholarship is advantageous.
