Responsibilities

The Gern laboratory in the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research (CGIDR) at Seattle Children's is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Scientist to conduct research investigating spatially-resolved immune responses against tuberculosis. This work will be performed within a highly collaborative team of investigators seeking to understand the barriers to immune protection against TB and to devise strategies to overcome these barriers. The lab utilizes cutting-edge imaging and immunologic approaches to investigate responses to TB in the mouse model and human tissues. The driving purpose behind these efforts is to inform new strategies to combat human TB through host-directed therapies or improved vaccines. This position requires a Ph. D. in the biomedical sciences. Previous experience in immunology or expertise in a complementary field with a strong interest in learning immunology is required. Previous experience in imaging or bioinformatics is preferred. The successful candidate will join a supportive and dynamic group within a collaborative environment at the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research and the greater Seattle research community. In addition, they should have demonstrated the ability to conduct interdisciplinary research with strong written and verbal communication skills, establish clear goals and prioritize work, as well as the desire to work collaboratively with a diverse team of scientists. Requirements

Required Education/Experience: -Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program - Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area Required Credentials: N/A Preferred: - Previous experience conducting research in the pediatric arena - Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing
