The Ciofani lab studies the transcriptional regulatory networks that govern inflammatory lymphoid cell development and function. We seek motivated and talented candidates for a postdoctoral position to be held in the Department of Immunology and the Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies at Duke University. Our project explores the genetic basis of CD4 T cell pathogenesis in autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease. This project involves identifying and validating the gene targets of noncoding disease-associated risk variants (SNPs) using a combination of innovative high-throughput genomics and reporter assays, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated modifications of primary human T cells, and mouse models of autoimmunity.
This project provides learning opportunities in applying emerging genomic, single cell, and genetic/epigenetic editing approaches to immunological questions. Duke University Medical Center is located in Durham in picturesque North Carolina with access to beaches, mountains, and city life.
The position requires a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, computational biology or a related field. Experience in molecular biology, computational biology or with mouse or human models is advantageous.
