The Liu laboratory in the Department of Medicine, Divisions of Cardiology and Neurology is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to lead projects in the fields of aging-related inflammatory diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular, and Alzheimer’s disease. The Liu lab combines unbiased genome-wide transcriptomic, epigenomic, and non-coding RNA analyses in large sample sizes of disease relevant tissues/cells from longitudinal and randomized clinical trials with in vitro and in vivo validation experiments to identify novel biomarkers for risk prediction and provide new insights into inflammatory mechanisms implicated in disease pathogenesis.

Successful candidates should have a strong knowledge in epidemiology, bioinformatics, and molecular biology. Candidates must be able to work independently and have a successful track record of predoctoral funding and publications. As part of the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, the Liu lab provides a) multi-site collaborations with scientists across the US, b) strong mentoring and growth in a fast-paced leading edge environment, and c) opportunities for funding and development of his/her own research program.

Min Degree Requirements:  Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.), preferably in the fields related to genetic epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, biostatistics, or translational science.  If the candidate has completed all of the requirements for a degree, but the degree has not been formally conferred; the candidate may present evidence of completion of the degree requirements, together with a statement documenting the date on which the degree is to be conferred.
