Purpose
The Keitt Lab in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Associate (postdoc) with expertise in electrical engineering or a related field at the time of hire. The selected candidate will assemble and program ten waterproof biosensors designed to record and process bird calls, ambient temperature, soil moisture, ambient light, and send data files over WiFi. Successful applicants will have knowledge of Linux systems, proven system integration and software architecture skills as well as familiarity with Raspberry Pi computers. As a key senior team member, the candidate will also be expected to aid in the training of junior lab members and testing biosensors in the field.

Required Qualifications
PhD in electrical engineering or related fields. PhD must have been received or completed all qualifications and degree requirements within three years prior to the effective date of the initial assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. electrical engineering or related disciplines and experience with open-source deployment on Raspberry Pi single-board computers or similar systems.
Salary Range
$47,500 - $65,000

Flexible: 40 hours/week is required, and most of this time should be during normal business hours (e.g., 9:00am-5:00pm), although numbers of hours/day and days/week can be negotiated and may change depending on what projects are being pursued.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
