Postdoctoral Position in Observational Exoplanets
Job Description
The Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to work with Prof. David Charbonneau and Dr. Juliana García-Mejía in observational studies of exoplanets. The newly commissioned Tierras Observatory is an automated ultra-precise time-series photometer located atop Mt. Hopkins, Arizona. The scientiifc goals are the discovery of small exoplanets, the search for exo-moons and exo-rings, and the study of stellar rotation periods and variability. The fellow will play a central role in characterizing the performance of the observatory and pursuing these scientific goals, as well as novel studies identified by the fellow.
The position is for one year, renewable for a second and third year upon mutual agreement. The starting date would be anytime between now and Sept 1, 2023, depending on the applicant's availability. Candidates must have a PhD in astronomy, physics, or the equivalent, by the date of appointment.
