General Notes

The MacDonald Research Group invites applications for a professional research position in Condensed Matter and Quantum Information Physics.  The duties will focus on collaborative research on electron-electron interactions and the electronic properties of metals and semiconductors.   The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership potential and will possess strong writing and communication skills as well as the aptitude to collaborate effectively.

Purpose

To coordinate and support research projects in Allan MacDonald’s student research groups. 


Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced research tasks in quantum information systems and the study of transport properties of two-dimensional topological materials.  Serve as the lead for PhD graduate research students on related research.  (40%)

  • Provide expert numerical computations for research projects led by postdoctoral scientists or graduate students. (30%)

  • Responsible for performing routine and advanced electronic and structure calculations on research projects within the Allan MacDonald group.  (30%)


Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics or Quantum Information Physics.  Professional research experience or publications in related fields. Experience in computational research related to the study of two-dimensional materials. Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years in computational research and the study of two-dimensional materials and electron interactions. Experience mentoring graduate students


Salary Range

$60,000+ depending on qualifications


Working Conditions
