Position Summary | The laboratory of Christopher Robinson, Ph.D. in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Appointee. The primary responsibilities of this role are to assist the principal investigator in conducting a wide range of complex experiments with a degree of independence in conducting research in: 1) identifying bacteria and specific bacterial enhancers of Coxsackievirus replication and pathogenesis; 2) accessing the role of Coxsackievirus sex bias in viral pathogenesis. Responsibilities also include performing complex techniques or procedures including, but not limited to: · Mouse handling, sacrifice, and dissection. · Tissue culture techniques necessary for in vitro experimentation. · Flow cytometry · Molecular biology techniques · Coordinate and provide training to research technicians and/or graduate students as needed. Train laboratory personnel in various techniques and analysis as needed. · Assist in preparing completed research reports or analyses on each project phase. Direct or participate in the tabulation and computation of project results. Write results of experiments and assist in writing articles for publication. · Participate in the development of grants for the PI and for future fellowship award applications. · Maintain knowledge of scientific trends through readings, conferences, and seminars. Review literature to identify suitable procedures and methods. · Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
