Summary of Job Duties:
The Post Doctoral Fellow’s job duties will contribute to a funded research project by synthesizing and modeling CH4 flux datasets from a large number of eddy covariance measurement stations, focusing on production-scale rice agriculture. Field visits may be conducted in irrigated and non-irrigated agricultural fields in Arkansas and other states. The project will investigate the impacts of land cover and management practices on the surface energy balance, biophysical properties, carbon uptake, and greenhouse gas emissions. The Post Doctoral Fellow will interface with scientists from a number of institutions and disciplines. The ultimate aim is to advance scientific understanding by modeling CH4 fluxes using remote sensing and other geospatial inputs and validate them at the field scale with the eddy covariance inputs.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in disciplines such as biological, biosystems, ecological or environmental engineering, ecology, environmental science, geography, geosciences, or a closely related field conferred by the start of employment
Demonstrated experience (research presentations, thesis, or publications) with high frequency micrometeorological datasets, remote sensing of landscape processes, or modeling of biogeochemical processes
Computer skills with python, R, Matlab, or a related language
Research experience with agricultural and/or landscape systems and their greenhouse gas dynamics
Preferred Qualifications:
Good scientific communication skills as evidenced by publications and/or presentations at conferences
Willingness and demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated experience with environmental data management
