Job Description

THE POSITION

The Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions to teach courses with emphasis in Human Development.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in counseling, counseling psychology, education, educational psychology OR the equivalent. Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above OR possess a valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355) AND have sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and of individuals with disabilities.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous community college teaching experience. Doctorate in education, educational psychology, counseling or counseling psychology. Expertise in learning theories and processes, both cognitive and affective.

Experience teaching career development theories and decision-making models. Knowledge of and experience with high engagement learning strategies and college success concepts and programs. Knowledge of and experience working with learning communities. Knowledge of and instructional experience with service learning. Understanding of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment. Understanding of learning styles and individual differences in behavior, personality, intellect, and self-concept as it relates to effective classroom instruction. Experience teaching human development concepts such as self-assessment, motivation, communication skills, interdependence, lifelong learning, etc. Experience utilizing educational and instructional technology. Demonstrated experience using student learning outcomes assessment to improve student learning, program review, and curriculum review. Demonstrated leadership skills in previous positions.

 

COMPENSATION

HOURLY RANGE: $44.79 - $72.27 (depending upon education and experience)

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part time teaching assignment(s). Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
