Research Investigator - Pediatrics Research
Job Description
The primary function of the
ResearchInvestigatoris to apply technical expertise and experience to coordinate, design and carry out research projects to impact cancer research within the Pediatrics Research department.
Research Activities
- Performs research experiments and collects data from experiments based on specific goals and research aims in our immune therapy lab.
- Plans, designs and initiates research projects and protocols directed by Principal Investigator, determines specific goals or objectives to be attained.
Research Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyzes and evaluates the research data after completing experiments.
- Revises techniques or approaches to resolve problems.
- Compiles, writes and submits reports to the Principal Investigator.
- Prepares abstracts, manuscripts and other research papers for publication.
- Presents data in scientific meetings.
- Organizes data to assist Principal Investigator with grant applications.
- Functions in a separate and independent manner in the design and initiation of research experiments.
Research Development and Collaboration
- Develops and improves new research methods, resolves problems in the experiments.
- Provides technique support in the laboratory.
- Trains students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows to perform research. These include a wide range of techniques in molecular and cellular biology and animal work. -Communicates and collaborates with staff, faculty and investigators on research projects inside and outside of MDACC.
- Monitors equipment to verify correct temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, incubators, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
Experience: Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred Master's degree, three years of required experience.
