Research Scientist

Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) (2 openings), to work in the area of energy systems modeling and techno-economic analysis.  As the hub of energy research at MIT, MITEI conducts techno-economic and systems-oriented research in six integrated research focus areas, including electric power, energy storage and low-carbon fuels, transportation, industrial processes, carbon management, and the built environment.  Will conduct high-level, independent research leading to a steady output of research publications and citations, international conference presentations, and invited talks; advise students and postdoctoral researchers; and contribute to the public policy outreach and industry engagement activities of MITEI.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, at least two years of postdoctoral experience, a strong publication record, and demonstrated experience in leading research activities and mentoring junior researchers and graduate students.  Candidates with experience any of the six focus areas noted above will be considered, with special emphasis towards those with knowledge of low-carbon fuels, power systems planning and operations, and regulation.  Job #22978
