Job Summary:
We seek a scientist whose research program investigates how to dissect host-microbiome interactions broadly across disease states. Potential research areas include (but are not limited to) investigating how the microbiome modulates host responses to infection/vaccination, cancer immunotherapy, neuro-inflammation, aging, and drug/alcohol abuse.

We especially encourage applicants with research interests that embrace interdisciplinary approaches and can integrate with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine priority research areas: diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer, substance abuse and neuroscience.

MIMG faculty (http://microbiology.med.uky.edu/ ) have developed strong program in microbial pathogenesis and immunology and are currently building a microbiome interest group. The department has an excellent collaborative atmosphere and strong ties with various centers in the Medical Center and other Colleges. UK is located in the heart of Lexington, one of the top ranked cities in the country for quality of life. It offers an intellectually vibrant and collegial research community spanning multiple colleges and centers with a strong commitment to inclusive excellence. UK College of Medicine has a well-established faculty mentoring program for career development, as well as guidance for navigating the promotion process, establishing multidisciplinary research, and seeking funding opportunities.
