The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland invites applications for tenure track faculty positions in all areas of electrical and computer engineering, with a particular interest in the broad areas of wireless communications, computer vision, computational imaging, and signal processing. The tenure-track appointments are expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, although more senior candidates with outstanding records of research achievements may be considered. Successful applicants will be expected to advance the field by developing an active, innovative research program, and to mentor and educate undergraduate and graduate students in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Education:
A Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related discipline is required at the time of the appointment.

The A. James Clark’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering consistently ranks in the top 20 ECE programs in the country by US News, and it offers a collegial, supportive environment in which faculty can thrive. The Department is closely involved with internationally recognized multi-disciplinary research institutes and centers, such as the Institute for Systems Research (ISR), the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS), the Maryland Robotics Center (MRC), the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2), the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI), the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QUICS), and the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP). The Department has launched the Academy of Machine Learning and an Internet-of-Things (IoT) program for undergraduate students as well as a new Master’s program in Machine Learning and is rapidly expanding collaborations with industry and government laboratories in these areas. The innovation and entrepreneurship programs on campus recently brought the University to the top 10 in Entrepreneurship Magazine.
