System Engineering Modeling Project Lead

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab

Job Description

Description

Are you passionate about applying your MBSE architecture skills to leading a system engineering team and developing systems?

Are you passionate about leading world-class technical teams to achieve significant impact for the nation?

If so, we 're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!

We are seeking a creative, team building systems engineer to help us lead the development and integration of sophisticated electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems using model-based systems engineering (MBSE). As the lead of the Architecture Working Group, you will help lead a hardworking team of engineers who engage in systems engineering, trade studies, requirements and architecture development. The sponsor will rely on you for vision and forward thinking to pioneer MBSE processes and lead how Digital Engineering is done! You will assist in establishing and communicating standards for use of MBSE, technical contributions and collaboration, provide technical direction and ensure timeliness, quality and technical integrity of work. Come be a part of a talented team of engineers and scientists striving to build the next generation EO/IR system.

As a Systems Engineering Modeling Project Lead, you will...

  • Provide systems engineering thought leadership focusing on architecture development and analysis for EO/IR systems.
  • Apply tools and lead other domain experts to evaluate architecture and allocation of system requirements. Develop observations and recommendations on system engineering processes based on MBSE/digital engineering standard methodologies.
  • Participate in design and requirements reviews, as well as risk boards.
  • Apply your past experience, while leading/coordinating research, studies, and analysis on current and future planning and coordination system capabilities, as well as provide supporting data and associated recommendations to advise program sponsors.
  • Work with government sponsor, industry, academic, and government laboratory staff to conduct research, trade studies, and engineering analyses to identify and apply promising new technologies to sophisticated EO/IR system applications.
  • Participate in the evolution of our robust MBSE methodology, applicable to a wide variety of systems. Whether it's fielded equipment that needs new capability or an idea that exists only on a napkin, you will help us define the best SE tools for the job. You will make improvements to processes, recommend standard presentation artifacts, take chances to innovate, and teach others how to use the methodology we have developed.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
