Description

POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Fellow in Biologics

ABOUT US
Calibr, a division of Scripps Research, is a first-of-its-kind, nonprofit translational research institute dedicated to creating the next generation of medicines. Calibr was founded on the principle that the creation of new medicines can be accelerated by pairing world-class biomedical research with state-of-the-art drug discovery and development capabilities. Scripps Research is ranked one of the most influential institutions in the world for its impact on innovation. Our educational and training programs mold talented and committed students and postdocs into leading edge scientists. Leveraging the unique scientific environment of Scripps Research, impacting translational sciences, Calibr has created a portfolio of drug candidates, and is shaping a new paradigm for advancing nonprofit biomedical research to impact patients while re-investing in further innovative research. We expand basic knowledge in the biosciences and use these fundamental advancements to develop profound innovations that improve wellbeing. Calibr's drug development portfolio spans a broad range of human diseases, including cancer, autoimmunity and inflammatory diseases, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, infectious and neglected diseases, as well as age-related and degenerative diseases. If you have a passion for making a difference, this could be your opportunity to join our transformative team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Young Group at Calibr is seeking exceptionally talented postdoc candidates who are interested in working in a highly resourced research environment to develop novel biologics and cell therapies that have the potential to be paradigm changing medicines in the areas of oncology, autoimmune, and metabolic diseases. This includes gene and cell therapy programs leveraging Calibr's unique switchable CAR-T cell platform, the discovery of novel immuno-oncology targets, and the use of Calibr's proprietary protein engineering technologies to create multi-specific antibodies. The position will both lead programs and work as part of a larger team of interdisciplinary scientists to profile promising candidates, select leads, and translate selected candidates into first in human clinical trials.

While this position will focus on the disease areas and therapeutic modalities above, the position will be exposed to a wide range of projects at Calibr including those in infectious and neglected tropical diseases, metabolic disorders, autoimmunity, and other rare disease indications. In addition, the position will benefit from Calibr's highly engaging and collaborative research institute which enjoys seamless flow of ideas within and between research groups.

Publication in high impact journals, filing of patent applications, and presentation at scientific conferences are core goals of this postdoc opportunity. The position is fully funded through existing grants and has access to the outstanding resources and infrastructure at Scripps/Calibr. In addition to the core facilities at Scripps, this position will be supported by functional groups at Calibr including a protein expression/molecular biology group, an expert staffed vivarium team, and an assay development/high throughput screening team.

This position seeks candidates with a passion to see the impact of their work on the lives of patients. Candidates should expect this position to be challenging, fast-paced, and rewarding. This position offers significant growth opportunity through promotion structures designed to retain exceptional talent within the Calibr team. This position will report directly to Dr. Travis Young, Vice President of Biologics at Calibr.
