About the Role:
Responsible for leading and developing global strategies and managing day to day intellectual property efforts to support multiple biologic/gene therapy programs._
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Identification of inventions, patent drafting, and prosecution relating to biologics and gene therapy
Conducting strategic IP due diligence, including analyzing the patent portfolios of the Company's competitors and potential collaborators
Identifying opportunities for expanding the Company's IP position and collaborating with members of various discovery, development and business groups within the Company
Working and communicating with collaborators and other external strategic partners in connection with developing a global IP strategy
Reviewing and negotiating license agreements and IP clauses in other agreements
Supporting preparation for Biosimilars, and other patent litigation support
Managing the use of outside legal counsel globally
Other duties as assigned
Juris Doctorate (JD) and admission to practice in California preferred and 5+ years of IP experience with significant in-house and/or law firm patent experience preferably with a significant focus on work relating to biologics and/or gene therapy OR
Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office required and Experience in the prosecution of patents covering biologics and/or gene therapy inventions is a plus
Emerging as an internal thought leader with technical and/or business expertise
Applies in-depth knowledge of own area of expertise to solve problems
Applies expertise to manage critical projects and/or relationships
Integrates analysis of business objectives and strategic direction to resolve problems and recommend solutions
Has input into short-term strategy and may be involved in long-term strategy on a functional level
Strong communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking, influencing skills
A broad range of patent-related legal expertise required, including in patent preparation, both U.S. and foreign prosecution, IP due diligence, and strategic counseling
Ability to independently oversee legal matters, manage the use of outside legal counsel and work collaboratively with other personnel at Neurocrine
Ability to set aggressive deadlines, handle multiple complex legal matters and see projects through to conclusion

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $196,400.00-$284,375.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
