Position description

The University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Department of Pediatrics (http://www.pediatrics.ucsd.edu) and the Division of Child and Community Health is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and is seeking Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientists. The Division encourages working with community groups as well as other disciplines at UC San Diego.

The Project Scientist will be expected to conduct research programs, as well as work on existing and new research programs in collaboration with others in the Department. The Project Scientist will conduct research with different quantitative and qualitative methodologies on a broad array of issues that affect child health and well-being.

In addition to research, the position requires publication of research results, presentation at conferences, participation in group meetings, supervision of trainees, grant writing, and submission of research reports to sponsors.

The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, DO, PhD, EdD, MPH, or other terminal degrees in a field related to pediatrics, public health, policy, or education.

Candidates must have proven capabilities for performing collaborative research, substantial experience designing and implementing programs, conducting evaluations, analyzing the resulting data, and working collaboratively on teams.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with evidence of high-quality first-author publications in leading specialty/general scientific journals or presentations at national meetings are preferred.
