About the Role:

Responsible for developing, implementing, and operating Neurocrine's Bioinformatics and Data Science capabilities. Responsible for developing and shaping a data-driven strategy and developing a multi-disciplined technical team, to support this strategy for Neurocrine Biosciences. Will lead and execute initiatives that leverage innovative technologies and computational methods to empower our R&D organization with advanced capabilities and insights.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance across the scientific community, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Deliver service growth strategy to federate key platforms and direction across the enterprise

  • Develop and execute a data strategy that aligns with the company's goals and mission, driving innovation and continuous improvement

  • Lead efforts to design and develop a comprehensive data platform and infrastructure emphasizing scalability, utility, and cost efficiency

  • Oversee data acquisition, curation, and integration processes, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security

  • Drive the development and application of advanced analytics, machine learning, and data modeling techniques to extract meaningful insights from large and complex datasets leveraging data assets across the enterprise and operating as a Analytics Center of Excellence

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative data-driven solutions to address key scientific and business challenges

  • Attract, retain, and develop top-tier talent within the bioinformatics and data science team, fostering a culture of learning and growth

  • Manage budget and resources effectively to support the team's initiatives and projects

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in data management and security

  • Effectively communicate insights and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other means

  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field and 15+ years of relevant experience, OR

  • Masters in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field and 13+ years of related experience OR

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field and 10+ years of related experience and Extensive previous managerial experiences also required

  • Recognized Internal thought leader and deep expertise in a discipline

  • Requires broad, deep and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories and techniques for functional area

  • Applies ingenuity and creativity to problem analysis and resolution in complicated and/or novel situations

  • Influences internal/external business and/or industry issues that have an impact on Neurocrine

  • Strong mentoring skills and leadership abilities to supervise people managers and/or leads indirect teams

  • Proven ability to translate strategy into tactical plans and drive outcomes

  • Ability to effectively manage, mentor and train personnel and ability to motivate and influence personnel to achieve goals

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and partner effectively across geographic areas and cross-functional groups is essential

  • Must have excellent leadership, management, and communication skills, be a confident self-starter able to lead the development of field strategy and execute/manage the execution of tactical plans

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with management, peers, and subordinates

  • Extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire

  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R)

  • Expertise in data integration, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques

  • Knowledge of relevant software tools and platforms (e.g., bioinformatics software, cloud computing, big data technologies)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

  • A passion for staying current with emerging trends and technologies in the field of bioinformatics and data science

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $232,700.00-$337,025.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
