Summary of Position

The School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineeringat UNH invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Scholar on engineering transport processes in nearshore environments, beginning June 2024. The scholar will conduct research to evaluate the scaling laws associated with net onshore mass and momentum transport resulting from oscillatory flows. Possible focal areas include sand ripple migration, seasonal variations in vegetation biomechanics, and seed transport. This experimental research will be conducted in the Environmental Flows Water Tunnel at UNH, with the potential to collaborate and play a role in larger-scale experiments with a broader research network offsite.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

· PhD in Engineering, Oceanography, or related field
· Experience with experimental fluid mechanics approaches and techniques
· Demonstrated ability and potential to generate scientific publications
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
· Demonstrated commitment to promoting racial, ethnic, gender and cultural diversity

Additional Preferred Qualifications

· Experience developing biomechanical systems and/or sensors
· Experience in mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate student researchers
