This is where your legacy begins! The Leidos Biological, Chemical and Materials Sciences Branch is currently looking for a motivated Chemistry Intern to work in our San Diego, California office. This is a highly dynamic and integrative environment in which talented and creative scientists can thrive working on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects.
Primary Responsibilities
You will work alongside and under the guidance of experienced scientists and will be part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team at the forefront of innovation
Assist in the execution of experiments involving development of inorganic materials and new organic ligand scaffolds
Perform lab-scale synthesis, modification, purification, formulation, and characterization for biomaterials development
Develop test methods and procedures for use in material characterization
Analyze and interpret data independently based on critical thinking and the use of statistic tools.
Document work and be able to communicate findings and reasoning with other team members
Basic Qualifications
Currently a PhD student in an accredited degree program pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Materials, or closely related disciplines
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
Great work ethic and an enthusiasm for problem-solving
Good presentation, writing and communication skills
Ability to work at least 8 hours per week as a member of a cross-functional team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
MS degree in Chemistry
Strong publication record in peer review journals
Experience with analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry (GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS), dynamic light scattering, column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, and microscopy (SEM, TEM, AFM, and/or STM).

Pay Range:Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
