Technical Associate I, Shoulders Lab

Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Chemistry-Shoulders Lab, to join a group that is interested in understanding how cells fold proteins and using the tools of evolution to understand proteostasis and develop next-generation biomolecules.  Will work in the area of protein homeostasis and assist with projects studying the folding and quality control mechanisms for collagen and possible treatments for collagen-related disorders.  The position offers an opportunity to be involved in all group activities, including presenting research results and ideally co-authorship on scientific publications.  Responsibilities will include providing comprehensive technical support for researchers and their projects and assisting with research experiments to achieve the lab’s scientific research objectives; analyzing experimental data, addressing methodological problems in experimental protocols, and reporting on data; conducting laboratory and organizational tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the group; and the stewardship of key equipment.  Will also assist with induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture and differentiations, small molecule screening, mouse colony maintenance and genotyping, and mouse phenotype analysis.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or a field directly related to the work; at least two years of experience in a biomedical or biochemical/biological research laboratory; experience in at least one of the following--mammalian cell culture, mouse colony maintenance, iPSC culture, and/or small molecule screening; proficiency with basic lab techniques and principles of molecular biology; excellent organizational and written and oral communication skills; and knowledge of scientific databases and publications.  Candidates interested in applying to M.D. and/or Ph.D. programs and/or gaining experience for work in the biotech/biopharma industries are encouraged to apply.  Job #23761
