Introduction to the job

We have an exciting opportunity for an intern to join a dynamic and innovative technology development team, focused on conceiving and demonstrating the technologies required for next generations of high-power extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources.

The successful candidate must have a passion for innovation, be driven by curiosity, and have deep technical understanding, in order to excel in our Research environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable operating in our diverse mix of physics, engineering and materials science, in order to define the tin management architecture for next generations of the EUV source.

You will be given the opportunity to work in a highly skilled team to contribute to the development of fundamental understandings in material science and bridging the gap between modeling and experiments via benchtop and full proto testing .

Role and responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of fundamental material research in areas of Tin deposition and etching in EUV source environment or benchtop analogues.

  • Lead experimental analysis and anchoring studies on the EUV proto source and benchtop analogues to develop proof of concept and advance technology readiness levels.

  • Perform data analysis and extract actionable knowledge to write technical reports.

  • Survey existing literature on material fundamentals, modeling and experimental measurement methods, and to identify new opportunities and technologies to be used in the EUV light source.

  • Troubleshoot issues with metrology systems in order to improve the EUV generation process.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and experience

Studying towards a PhD degree in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering

Skills
  • Strong material fundamentals understanding.

  • Hands-on experience with complex system design and build, experimentation, characterization, and troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on experience and technical knowledge of material science related metrologies such as SEM, XRF, etc.

  • Possess a good understanding of mechanics, physics and optics analysis software packages as well as data analysis tools such as Matlab.

  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.

  • May require travel dependent on business needs.

  • Must be willing to work hours needed to support 2nd shift operations and cover weekends as needed.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
