Area of specialization is open. The successful applicant will be expected to teach in the Jesuit context of Catholic higher education. One course is of particular importance, "Philosophical Inquiry," which is described in our Bulletin as "an introductory exploration of central questions and interpretations of human existence, with special emphasis on theory of knowledge and theory of reality, carried on in light of the Catholic intellectual tradition." The post-doc may also be asked to teach a core course in ethics described as "a study of the questions which a person must ask, and the answers one must consider, in forming an intelligent philosophy of moral choice, carried on in the light of the Catholic intellectual tradition."
We seek a dedicated teacher-scholar with demonstrated or the potential of teaching excellence in accordance with LMU's Mission and justice-driven commitments grounded in our Jesuit and Marymount traditions. The position has a six-course teaching load for the academic year (3-3).
Applicants must include: 1) a cover letter (outlining area of expertise, teaching and research interests, and support of LMU's distinctive mission); 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) a statement of teaching philosophy that demonstrates your approach to teaching in the liberal arts tradition at a Catholic university, 4) teaching evaluations and/or sample syllabi, 5) a writing sample.
