About the Role:

We are looking for a collaborative and highly motivated associate scientist to join our Research team. The primary role will be to contribute to research efforts across multiple innovative programs. The ideal candidate must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic, and be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. This candidate will be able to work together with his or her supervisor to seamlessly provide consistent support to the in vitro team by supporting tasks related to multiple new target assay development. Responsible for Tissue Culture of iPSC/differentiation and immortalized cell lines, development of cell-based assay development as well as the implementation of new technologies that will improve efficiency and quality.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Perform tissue culture expansion, cryopreservation, and membrane preparations. Stem cell/differentiation and cell model development experience

  • Help to identify, evaluate, and, where applicable, implement novel methods or technologies that would enhance workflow efficiencies and/or improve the quality of cell model deliverables

  • Design and perform in vitro cell based to support Gene Therapy research projects

  • Continuous support biology needs for different projects and drug discovery teams by running different types of assays

  • Detailed record keeping

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in scientific field and 2+ years of in vitro pharmacology experience; Preferred experience includes: primary cell culture, especially CNS, and related assay development, liquid handling automation and LIMS systems, GPCRs and related in vitro assays OR

  • MS/MA degree in scientific field and some relevant industry experience OR

  • PhD in biology or related field preferred

  • Some experience with cell culture and cell-based in vitro assays, development and optimization of in vitro biological assays is required Preferred experience includes: primary cell culture, especially CNS, and related assay development, liquid handling automation and LIMS systems, GPCRs and related in vitro assays

  • Strong experience in developing cell models for neurological diseases, using different immortalized cell lines, neuroblastoma and/or iPSC culture/differentiation into neuronal types and cell clone characterization methods to support gene therapy projects.

  • Prior hands-on experience in biochemistry techniques including (but not limited to) qPCR, capillary western blot, immunoassays, FACs analysis, protein assay development and data analysis. Prism experience preferred

  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot cell-based assays to support in vitro work for gene therapy programs

  • Experience using modern automation, LIMS, data analysis and informatics systems is a plus

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize time management of daily activities to deliver timely results to support different projects.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent record keeping and communication skills

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $86,200.00-$125,050.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
