Description

The Am Care Float Pharmacist is responsible for helping to maintain clinical pharmacy service coverage for existing Staff Pharmacists and Pharmacist Specialists who are out on vacation, sick, or other types of leave. When covering for other pharmacists, the Am Care Float Pharmacist will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and facilitating medication optimization for patients within that service. The position will dedicate at least 20 hours/week to support the needs of the Department of Pharmacy, although may flex up to 40 hours/week depending on service demands and leave requests. The areas of coverage may include but are not limited to Anticoagulation, Heart Failure, Population Health, Specialty Medication Management(e.g. Neurology), and the Pharmacy Medication Access Clinic (PMAC, aka "Refill Program"). The Am Care Float Pharmacist may also become involved in the development of new services or expansion of existing services within the organization, depending on needs. The Am Care Float Pharmacist will be responsible for provision and documentation of medications and medication-related services to patients according to the standards established by the UCSD Health Department of Pharmacy, as applicable. The pharmacist may serve as preceptor to pharmacy students and residents as assigned. He/she may also participate in Medical Center and Departmental committees and promote institution-wide medication use policy. Other activities may be assigned at the discretion of managers and supervisors.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Stf Pharm1 or Stf Pharm2. Less than four (4) years experience qualifies as Stf Pharm1; Four (4) + years of experience qualifies as Stf Pharm2.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent clinical experience

  • Registered Pharmacist - issued by the state of California (RPH)

  • PGY1 Residency Training or equivalent clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy (BCACP), Pharmacotherapy Specialists (BCPS), or applicable specialty area
  • Completion of PGY2 Pharmacy Residency training
  • Previous experience providing pharmaceutical care in desired specialty and primary care areas
  • Experience with Epic EHR functionality
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $174,390 - $196,356 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $83.52 - $94.04

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
