Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our scientific research team in the Department of Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The Hahn Laboratory studies mechanisms of cancer initiation and progression as well as development of novel therapeutic targets. We use genome scale systematic approaches to:

  • Discover cancer-specific genetic vulnerabilities.
  • Decipher molecular pathways underlying cellular transformation and therapeutic resistance.

Responsibilities

  • Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. 
  • Design, conduct, and troubleshoot hypothesis-testing experiments. 
  • Design, conduct, and validate high-throughput, hypothesis-generating screens. 
  • Mentoring of research technicians and undergraduate students. 
  • Maintain detailed and understandable lab notebooks and records. 
  • Interpret, discuss and present research findings with lab members and the principal investigator. 
  • Use computational approaches to analyze complex data sets, including next generation sequencing data sets, and/or effectively collaborate with computational biologists. 
  • Develop figures to depict research findings, write research and review papers, and present at scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology or related field or MD.
  • Mammalian cell line and organoid culturing techniques.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.
  • Self-motivation, collaborative spirit and ability to work in a group setting.
  • Able to write scientific reports and present scientific findings.
