A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Feng Li, in the Department of Veterinary Science in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who is able to independently carry out projects that study the mechanisms of how newly discovered influenza D virus enters into cells and spreads into multiple species using a multidisciplinary approach. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular virology, virus-host interaction, and animal model. Experience with reverse genetics system is a strong plus. The applicant must have accomplished a Ph.D. program in Virology or related field in biomedical sciences in order to apply. Salary will be based on qualifications, and appointment will be for 1 year with possibility of renewal on a yearly basis. Skills: Cell culture, virus culture, virus purification, cloning and mutagenesis, DNA and RNA purification, reverse transcription and real-time PCR, transfection and virus rescue through reverse genetics system, immunological assays (ELISA, IFA, Western-blot, Co-IP, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry), genome editing, confocal microscope and imaging, and handling animals.
