    Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

    Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Ahorangi Nēhe - Professor in Nursing to join Te Kura Tapuhi Hauora - The School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice.

    Te Kura Tapuhi Hauora - The School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice is seeking a senior academic to join our growing school at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington within the Te Wāhanga Tātai Hauora - Faculty of Health as a Ahorangi nēhe - Professor in Nursing. Offering a large postgraduate programme including graduate entry nursing, Master’s and Doctoral programmes along with a Bachelor of Midwifery, the School is uniquely located at Wellington Regional Hospital in New Zealand's capital city and maintains strong relationships with national policy and health service stakeholders. 

    In this role you will be expected to provide a high level of academic and discipline leadership to the School and University through initiating, implementing, and participating in research, supervision, teaching, curriculum development and industry engagement. 

    Key responsibilities: 

    • Provide research leadership within the School.
    • Undertake postgraduate research supervision at Masters and Doctoral level. 
    • Provide strategic nursing leadership and teaching into our Doctoral programmes, Master of Health, Master of Nursing Science with advanced practice pathways and graduate entry nursing programme.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to academic staff.

    Key requirements: 

    • Doctoral Qualification. 
    • Extensive experience in teaching and supervising at postgraduate level.
    • Strong international reputation in research.
    • An excellent record of academic leadership and research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research.

    You will be a highly organised leader and relationship builder, who relishes working collaboratively in diverse high performing teams. You will be a supportive mentor who fosters an environment of collegiality and excellence in the school and beyond. 

    The preferred candidate will have (amongst other attributes contained in the Role Description):  

    • A completed Doctoral qualification in a relevant field, or other relevant qualifications commensurate with the seniority of the role.
    • Demonstrable knowledge of how the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi can be effectively upheld in academic and health settings.
    • Demonstrated evidence of academic leadership and experience in teaching and research (e.g., mentoring of colleagues, leading research groups, developing and leading innovative initiatives that encourage or enhance student learning, etc).
    • Demonstrated sensitivity to the diversity of our student population and expertise with different approaches to teaching methods and practice.
