Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Accounting and Business Law in the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago invites candidates to apply for a full-time faculty appointment, beginning in Fall 2024. This position has an initial one-year appointment with renewal based on teaching needs. Teaching experience in accounting in a university setting is expected, as is broad professional experience in accounting. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to publish academic research in accounting to maintain their AACSB Scholarly Active designation. Evidence of professional leadership and recognition (such as participation and leadership in industry associations, or presentations of research or significant achievements in accounting) are highly desired.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate or graduate accounting courses under the mentorship of experienced faculty who oversee the curriculum. The successful candidate will also conduct academic research suitable for publication in accounting journals, to maintain AACSB Scholarly Active designation. Administrative responsibilities include participation in faculty discussions to develop and maintain an appropriate curriculum for our accounting programs.

In addition to teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities, the successful candidate will also build relationships with the business community in the Chicago area to support Internship and mentoring projects through Loyola’s accounting programs.

 

Qualifications
Academic and Professional Qualifications include a Doctorate in Business Administration; leadership experience in business; and teaching experience. A record of recent research activities, as demonstrated by academic publications and/or advanced working papers, will be required. Qualified candidates must show teaching effectiveness and a strong understanding of and commitment to the university’s mission. Of special interest are candidates who can further the University’s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
