POSITION TITLE: Learning & Engagement Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Learning and Engagement Manager is responsible for managing the learning, development and employee engagement function. Will design, develop and implement an organization wide training program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Analyzes training needs (using a variety of methods, including jobs analysis, career pathing and consultation with faculty, students, managers and employees) to address work-related issues and challenges through the development of new training programs, or the modification and improvement of existing courses or programs.
- Compiles information from internal and external resources and generates project plans to propose best practices for training respective target audiences. Provide stakeholder reports as needed to audit employee attendance and compliance with internal training requirements
- Designs training curricula and develops/implements courses for specific target audiences in collaboration with department heads, managers and other stakeholders as appropriate to address specific training needs.
- Drafts and develops training procedures, utilizing knowledge of relative effectiveness of individual training, classroom training, e-learning, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences and workshops.
- Drafts and develops training manuals, multimedia visual aids, e-learning courses, job aids and other educational materials as needed.
- Plans, schedules and delivers training classes, seminars and events on topics including effective management and leadership, mentorship, diversity, inclusivity, and other topic-specific training programs. Maintains accurate attendance and course completion information for each employee.
- Develops and implements testing and evaluation procedures to monitor the effectiveness of training programs and the compliance of external resources to contract specifications.
- Manages, develops and maintains the content in the Learning Management System (LMS) that enables the distribution and tracking of e-learning courses.
- Supports the People Team leadership with oversight and maintenance of Harassment Prevention training program, Title IX training program and additional HR/Compliance related trainings.
- Manages the training budget, which includes review and negotiation of new and annually renewing training vendor contracts.
- Reviews and evaluates training programs for compliance with state and federal laws.
- Conducts research into best practices in the learning/training field and keeps abreast of training trends and technology developments.
- Complies with reporting requirements, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study preferred.
- Minimum 5 years related experience in program development for a large complex organization to include a combination of needs assessment; course development; designing, developing, delivering and managing adult training programs including management and supervisory training.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training outcomes is essential. Knowledge of management and supervision principles.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local legal requirements and regulations as it relates to required training.
- Experience in higher education and able to effectively engage and partner with people at different levels and from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Critical thinker with excellent problem solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
- Strong project management, organizational skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Learning Management System experience required, with UKG LMS experience highly preferred.
- Experience with a variety of content development and application simulation software.
- Experience with the delivery of web-hosted learning events, e-learning and mobile learning.
- Must be a highly motivated, self-starter with meticulous attention to detail.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style to suit the audience.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information.
- Be analytically driven with excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus.
COMPENSATION:
The expected hiring range for this position is $130,750 to $148,800/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
