Research Technologist
Job Description
The Johns Hopkins University is seeking to hire a Research Technologist who will work with a team that includes other technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to run an independent research project as well as be involved in other projects by assisting experiments.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in research to elucidate the molecular stratification of different classes of neurons in the CNS.
- Perform animal brain surgeries including virus injection, fiber optic implantation and cranial window implantation.
- Conduct two-photon microscope imaging of brains, and post-hoc confocal imaging.
- Quantify and analyze the data generated by imaging.
- Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related field (neuroscience, chemistry, or biomedical engineering).
- Experience with rodent surgery experiments, such as virus injection or fiber optic implantation.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic lab methods, such as making chemical solutions, histological techniques and molecular techniques.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy.
- Experience using data analysis software such as MATLAB and Python.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY ($40,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: M-F 8:30am-5:00pm
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
