Course Description

Statics: review of vector mathematics; moment and force resultants; static equilibrium in two & three dimensions; centroids; center of gravity; distributed loadings; mass and area moments of inertia and principal directions. Dynamics: review of concepts of velocity and acceleration; dynamics of particles and rigid bodies; concepts of work, energy, momentum. Four lectures per week.

Responsibilities*

Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks one applicant to teach CEE 211, in Winter term 2025 (January 1, - April 30, 2025). Final exams: April 24-May 1, 2025. The class is scheduled to meet in-person Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30-9:30am, Room TBD. The position will be 0.40 FTE (40% effort) and requires the lecturer be responsible for teaching students the subject titled Statics and Dynamics.

Required Qualifications*

A master's degree, or equivalent education and experience, in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required. PhD in Civil Engineering is preferred.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience and knowledge of the university policies and procedures.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
