The Virginia Tech Autism Clinic & Center for Autism Research (https://www.vtcar.science.vt.edu/) and Psychological Services Center (https://support.psyc.vt.edu/centers/psc), within the Clinical Science program in the Department of Psychology, propose a one-year clinical/research fellowship, with the possibility to renew for a second year pending funding. The recruited fellow would work on the CA Human Services (https://cahumanservices.org/) funded project focused on telehealth autism assessment services (including measurement administration, scoring, and interpretation; formulation and diagnoses; report writing with recommendations; and feedback and consultation) for diverse and underserved adults throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, including non-English speaking adults. The fellow will be closely involved in research to develop a protocol and initial trials for bilingual assessment. Additionally, the fellow can participate in research projects related to these telehealth assessments and using existing longitudinal, intervention, and assessment research datasets. Clinical activities will include up to 42 tele-assessments per year and support the fellow accruing supervised hours towards licensure as a psychologist. The Virginia Tech Clinical Science program is dually accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) and received the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies’ (ABCT) Outstanding Training Program award in 2017.
Applicants must have completed a PhD/PsyD in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or a related discipline from an accredited academic program. Applicants should have some experience conducting and writing up comprehensive autism assessments (e.g., ADI-R, ADOS-2), cognitive and academic testing (e.g., WAIS; WISC), and diagnostic interviews (e.g., ADIS-5, SCID). Preference will be given to applicants who are bi-lingual.
Experience conducting tele-assessments is a plus but not necessary. Telecommuting is possible.
Commensurate with experience
The successful Candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check
