The Experimental Atomic, Molecular, and Quantum Optics (AMQO) group lead by Prof. Novikova and Prof. Mikhailov in the Department of Physics at William & Mary invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate beginning as early as July 10, 2021. The position is for two years, renewable each year based on performance and funding availability.
The successful candidate is expected to: lead the experimental development of the vector atomic magnetometer based on electromagnetically induced transparency in Rb vapor; actively engage with other partner institution (NIST and JPL); communicate results of their research in scientific publication and at conferences; support the activities of the William and Mary AMQO groups.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the starting date and have expertise in an area relevant to the group’s research program. These include experimental hardware, diode lasers, data acquisition, analysis or simulations.
Familiarity with experimental techniques using coherent interaction of laser light with atoms for atomic clocks and magnetometers is also desired but not required.
