We are seeking a qualifiedSr. Training Specialist in the Virginia Beach, VA, Austin, TX, or San Diego, CA areas. Other geographic locations are possible.

Position Description:
The Senior Training Specialist III will help lead and support the training leads who are providing training to U.S. Navy Sailors on the Tactical Tomahawk Weapon Control System which is a vital weapon contributing to our nation's defense. This effort supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) which is part of the larger Naval Sea Systems Command. The NSWC PHD mission is to provide research, development, test and evaluation, and in-service engineering and logistics support to the United States Navy (USN), other military services, and government agencies. Its focus areas include combat systems, unmanned systems, surface ship systems, and information system.
Work location and telework: Work location is flexible while not on a training assignment. Work from home is possible when not required to be onsite, conducting training or needing access to classified or controlled materials.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead and manage other training specialists
- Curriculum Development:
- Creating comprehensive training programs tailored to specific client needs, including lesson plans, scenarios, and assessments based on industry best practices and relevant legal guidelines.
- Instruction Delivery:
- Leading hands-on training sessions, utilizing various teaching methods like demonstrations, lectures, role-playing exercises, and live-fire drills to effectively convey critical tactical concepts.
- Scenario Design:
- Developing realistic and challenging training scenarios that replicate real-world situations to test trainees' decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Equipment Expertise:
- Demonstrating proper use and maintenance of specialized tactical equipment like firearms, breaching tools, protective gear, and communication systems.
- Performance Evaluation:
- Assessing trainee competency during exercises through observation and feedback, identifying areas for improvement and providing targeted coaching.
- After Action Reviews:
- Conducting debriefings after training sessions to analyze performance, identify lessons learned, and refine future training approaches.
- Client Consultation:
- Collaborating with clients to understand their specific security needs and tailor training programs accordingly.
- Instructional Skills:
- Strong ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions, adapting to different learning styles.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain complex concepts and provide constructive feedback.
- Physical Fitness:
- Ability to travel in and outside of the continental United States. Ability to go aboard U.S. Navy ships and platforms.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 10 years' experience training and providing instruction on military systems or similar operational equipment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
- Ability to travel frequently, go aboard naval ships, and lead hands on and classroom instruction
- Ability to manage and lead other training specialists and work well in a team environment
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Masters level degree and or military training experience
- Active military duty experience with Tomahawk/TTWCS experience
- Possess excellent leadership skills and ability to work with team members and subcontractors from various technical and logistics disciplines.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience at the senior management level and/or as a Combat Systems Training Team member.
- Experience at the instructor/evaluator level on a strike group or staff involving TTWCS mission planning and execution.
Travel Requirements:
- Frequent travel to the continental United States (primarily east and west coasts)
- Limited / Occasional overseas travel
- Some travel may be for 2-3 weeks a few times a year
