Postdoctoral Fellow Position focused on Therapeutic Development Initiatives for ZTTK Syndrome
Description:
The Ahn Lab in the Department of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) (https://sites.uab.edu/ahnlab/), together with the ZTTK SON-Shine Foundation (https://zttk.org/), is seeking a passionate postdoctoral researcher to lead therapeutic development initiatives for ZTTK syndrome. Our lab is one of the first to discover Zhu-Tokita-Takenouchi-Kim Syndrome (ZTTK syndrome; https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5011044/) and is currently the leading research team for this syndrome. Our future research will focus on innovative therapy development projects, including mouse model analysis (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38290089/), human iPSC cell studies and drug development. The lab collaborates closely with the ZTTK SON-Shine Foundation, academic leaders in many other institutes, and industry partners on advanced efforts such as antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) screening, AAV-mediated gene therapy, small molecule screening, metabolomics, and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) projects. In addition, the postdoc will have multiple opportunities to participate in cancer gene expression/non-coding RNA projects.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will hold a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related biomedical fields, and should have extensive experience in molecular cloning, cell culture, and mouse handling. Candidates with experience in human iPSC culture/differentiation, CRISPR editing, AAV gene therapy, or metabolism study using mouse models will be preferred.
