Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow to join the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Human Performance and Sport Science Center (HPSSC) at the University of Michigan to pursue a novel project at the intersection of exercise science and skeletal biology. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Ken Kozloff to initiate novel studies to understand the interaction of skeletal biology and exercise using both human and animal models.
Candidates will be expected to work in human and animal models to explore both phenomenological and mechanistic research questions governing the skeleton?s adaptational response to exercise, and related questions involving athletic performance and injury. Candidates will contribute to projects intellectually and technically, actively participate in the preparation of grants and manuscripts, and present their work at national and international meetings. Mentoring of junior researchers and trainees is highly encouraged, as is collaboration with others inside and outside of the labs.
Research activities will take place in a variety of contexts, including within the Orthopaedic Research Laboratories, the HPSSC Michigan Performance Research Lab (MiPR), and the HPSSC Athlete Innovation Lab (HAIL) located within the UM Athletic Department. Therefore, this individual will be expected to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, interfacing with a variety of research professionals and participants.

Additional Information
The position is available immediately with salary range following the NIH NRSA Stipend Levels, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are included with this position. This position is term-limited and funded for 1-year. The initial appointment may be extended depending on availability of research funds and successful performance in the role.
Background Screening
