Postdocotral Position exploring Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Applications in Perinatal-Neonatal and Pediatric Care

The Department of Pediatrics, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Division, invites applications for a postdoctoral research position under the mentorship of Dr. Vivek Shukla. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group exploring artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in perinatal-neonatal and pediatric care. Current projects focus on developing and validating innovative approaches to improve care and outcomes.
This position provides a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge clinical trials and translational research, leveraging big data and AI to address critical healthcare challenges.

Research Areas:

  1. Neuroprotection:
    • Analyzing outcomes such as survival, neurodevelopmental delay using brain imaging and clinical biomarkers and developing clinical tools.
  2. Machine Learning in Perinatal-Neonatal Care:
    • Developing predictive models for fetal-neonatal outcomes using multimodal data.
    • Testing real-world applications of risk prediction tools.
  3. Innovative Public Health Interventions:
    • Exploring strategies to reduce perinatal-neonatal morbidity and mortality leveraging population-based datasets.
Responsibilities:
  1. Design and execute experiments or clinical studies, including data collection and analyses.
  2. Develop grant applications and proposals to support new projects.
  3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, data scientists, and public health experts.
  4. Lead manuscript preparation and conference presentations.
  5. Supervise and mentor junior researchers and research assistants.
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Public Health, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Strong background in clinical research, data analysis, and machine learning.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with relevant statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, C++, SAS, SPSS, MATLAB, etc.) and clinical databases is highly desirable.
Preferred Skills:
  • Expertise in computational modeling with experience in deep learning, image analyses, and signal analyses.
  • Knowledge of AI applications in healthcare and biostatistics.
  • Familiarity with designing and conducting clinical trials.
  • Experience creating software tools for clinical application
