Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:

The NSF funded “Developing a new generation of collaborative scientists and citizens through popular media”, BIAS project aims to understand how intentionally designed media can improve boys’ and girls’ perceptions of female scientists and engineers and can increase children’s understanding of mixed-gender collaborations in STEM.

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the day-to-day activities of the mixed methods research that includes an iterative design process involving children ages 3-6 and their adult caretakers, and partnerships between university faculty, PBS station educators, and media developers.

Work collaboratively as a team player.

Effectively manage tasks.

Demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Mixed methods research in the social sciences.
  • Assessment development, particularly gamified digital assessments.
  • Educational media development and/or research.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned.

LICENSESTOOLSAND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers, word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Ph.D. or completion of a Ph.D. at the time of appointment in media technology, digital game design and production, educational technology, or related field.

2. Demonstrated ability to conduct, publish, and present basic or applied research.

3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.

4. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects.

5. Demonstrated ability to mentor student research assistants.

6. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

7. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

8. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
