About the Role The South Sound YMCA is seeking a Youth Development Director specializing in youth and teens to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

The Youth Development Director will lead the BAR program @ Thurgood Marshall — a groundbreaking, school-based initiative supporting middle school youth with high-quality, no-cost after-school and summer programming.

This full-time Director role sits at the intersection of education, youth development, and community, and is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in collaborative, youth-centered environments.

  • Design and deliver after-school and summer learning experiences in partnership with school staff.
  • Supervise a team of part-time and full-time youth development professionals.
  • Serve as a core member of the school’s leadership team, aligning programs with student supports.
  • Partner with families, educators, and community stakeholders to create a culture of belonging.
  • Use data to track student engagement and program outcomes, driving continuous improvement.
  • Manage program operations, communications, and budget oversight.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • 2+ years in youth development, education, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing program logistics.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to anti-racist, inclusive leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Associate’s required).
