Essential Job Duties

The postdoc will contribute to redesigning thermophilic enzymes for carbon fixation in plants

The project utilizes structural techniques (crystallography and single-particle cryoEM), biochemical techniques (protein expression and purification, enzyme assays, mutagenesis) and computational studies (phylogenetics, Molecular Dynamics and the metainference approach to model enzyme dynamics in cryoEM) to identify mutations to reduce the temperature of activity of carbon-fixing enzymes. Must be collaborative.

Department Required Skills

  • PhD in biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, (bio)physical chemistry or related fields.
  • Experience working with enzymes including cloning in E coli, expression purification, and enzyme assays
  • Structural biology experience in crystallography or single particle cryoEM.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player
  • Willingness to participate in departmental functions.
  • Ability to work independently and take advice from colleagues
  • Interest in mentoring students in the lab
