If so, we 're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a software developer to help us pursue new and innovative ways to improve task efficiency and enhance our software approaches.

As a Software Developer you will...

  • Primarily lead agile development teams that design, implement, test, document, and maintain software-based applications that meet sponsor requirements.
  • Work with sponsors and end users in defense or intelligence organizations to understand their operations and identify requirements.
  • Seek out innovative ways to enhance software efficiency, security, and stability.
  • Stay ahead of industry and community standards to ensure code maintainability.
  • Explore promising new research areas and seek ways to apply promising ideas to today 's problems. Share approaches and methods.
  • Establish relationships across organizational boundaries to increase teamwork.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • Possess 5+ years of experience developing software using Java/Kotlin, Python, C#, C/C++, Rust, Golang, or equivalent.
  • Possess experience using web application frameworks and related knowledge base such as JavaScript/Typescript, HTML5, CSS3, JSON/XML, jQuery, D3, SVG, RESTful web services, or (No)SQL.
  • Work effectively as part of a larger team developing software applications
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a Master 's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
  • Ability to apply software development skills to different domains and subject matters (e.g. biotechnology, cyber security, etc.).
  • Possess experience with Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community customers
  • Experience with network security and systems integration.
  • Possess knowledge of geospatial information systems, deep learning, and computer vision experience in tensorflow/keras.
  • Possess experience with hierarchical bayesian modeling, programming experience with R, Python, or equivalent to analyze genomics data.
