The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. The position involves bioinformatics analysis and methods development for a variety of cancer characterization studies, including spatial RNA sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and related platforms. The individual will pursue research on a line of investigation for developing a manuscript. The position is in the Data Science Division of the Center for Military Precision Health with Dr. Wilkerson (https://www.usuhs.edu/node/122544). The individual has the opportunity to collaborate in multi-institute studies.
HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow who is responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team. Pursuits research along a focused line of inquiry and has a manuscript in development.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing, developing, and implementing scientific research.
  • Collects and analyzes molecular profiling data and keeps detailed records of analysis experiments.
  • Analyzes data and results for presentations at scientific meetings and for publicization in journals.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Required bioinformatics analysis experience in sequencing, proteomics, and/or other large-scale molecular profiling data.
  • Required programming experience with R and/or python; linux computes cluster environment.
  • Preferred: experience with TCGA, CPTAC, HTAN data, machine learning analytics, and cloud analysis environment.

Work Environment:
  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Education and Experience:
  • Doctoral degree.
  • Minimum of 0-5 years experience required.
