Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Department of Accounting Tenure Track Assistant / Associate Professor (F93642 & F95959) at its Detroit campus location.

The Department of Accounting at Wayne State University's Mike Ilitch School of Business is seeking to fill two tenure-track faculty positions (F93642 and F95959) at the assistant or associate professor level beginning Fall 2025 at its Detroit campus location.

The AACSB-International accredited Mike Ilitch School of Business prepares students for challenging and rewarding careers, advances the boundaries of scholarly and practitioner knowledge, and enhances the economic vitality of the city of Detroit, the state of Michigan, and beyond through its programs, research, and community engagement. Established in 1946, the business school was renamed in 2015 in recognition of a $40 million gift from Mike and Marian Ilitch. The Department of Accounting is dedicated to providing exceptional education, preparing students for the CPA exam and for diverse careers in accounting. Essential Functions (Job Duties):
Candidates are expected to conduct research suitable for publication in top-tier journals, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, with a strong preference for areas such as auditing, accounting information systems, and data analytics, actively participate in department and school activities, and perform other related duties as assigned.
We expect the candidate to be a fully engaged participant in the life of the Mike Ilitch School of Business. The typical teaching load is two courses each in fall and winter semesters. For further information about the Department of Accounting see https://ilitchbusiness.wayne.edu/accounting/
Qualifications:
Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. or A.B.D. in Accounting (to be completed before August 2025) from an AACSB-accredited business school. For the position of an associate professor, some previous teaching and publication experience are required.
Desirable Education and Experience:
Evidence of potential to publish in top-tier academic journals.
Having interest and experience in teaching courses in auditing, accounting information system, and accounting data analytics areas are highly preferable, but are not limited.
Candidates who have the skills and knowledge to infuse emerging technologies into the classroom and research are encouraged to apply.
Candidates should be able to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online courses in the Accounting Department’s undergraduate, MSA, and MBA programs.
